Fifth National Exhibition Bulgarian Archaeology 2011

The 5th National Exhibition of Bulgarian Archaeology 2011 was inaugurated on the Day of the Archaeologist – February 14th, in the Central Hall of the National Museum of Archaeology. The Director of NAIM – BAS, Ass. Prof. Dr. Lyudmil Vagalinski, opened the exhibition and read a congratulatory letter of Mr. Boiko Borisov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. Dr. Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayer of Culture, Education, Sports and Prevention of Dependencies Direction of Sofia Municipality, and Ass. Prof. Dr. Slavia Barlievd, Academic Secretary of Humanities in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, offered congratulations as well. Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Italy, Poland and Japan honored the event with their presence.

21 Museums in Bulgaria are co-organizers of the Exhibition alongside NAIM – BAS. Traditionally the Exhibition is supported by the Bulgarian National Bank. There are 332 artifacts on display coming from 305 archaeological sites, including the 420 km long bed of the future Nabucco Gas Pipe, investigated during the last year on the territory of Bulgaria. Exhibition is open till May 31st 2012.
