“Investigations of the cultural heritage: challenges and perspectives” is a collection of articles by PhD students and young researchers whose research is directly or indirectly related to the protection of the cultural heritage. The issue is both topical and intransient. Its solution requires institutional commitment through a clear and adequate strategy, firm regulation and unceasing control. It is a fact that young researchers from different specialisms are becoming more and more involved with the problems of cultural heritage protection (of which the archaeological one is inseparable), which is a positive sign and deserves encouragement. In this respect, the two doctoral conferences at NAIM-BAS (in 2011 and 2013) as well as the present proceedings are a good start and we hope it will become a regular practice.”
