Anthropomorphic bone figure with copper fittings

Polished surface. The head is square; the face is conveyed by two panels. Four dimples on each side of the head. The eyes are marked by circular dimples, the mouth by an incised line. The body is rhombic in shape with holes at each end. The pubic triangle is marked by incised lines and pits. Two parallel lines are incised in the area of the knees. Copper bands on the hips, waist and neck.
The exhibit is part of the temporary exhibition "The Lords of the Salt: Provadia-Solnitsata 5600 – 4350 BC", presented in the Temporary Exhibitions Hall of NAIM-BAS. The exhibition is dedicated to 20 years of archaeological research of the oldest salt-mining and urban centre in Europe – Provadia-Solnitsata and is on display until October, 27th, 2024.
