The collection of popular science articles "The forgotten deities" has been printed out. The edition is under the editorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristo Popov and Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaloyan Pramatarov. It is a part of the eponymous temporary exhibition that could be seen at the National Archaeological Museum from August 7th, 2026, till January 17th, 2027 - a large-scale exhibition project including 213 exhibits presenting the history of the religious ideas and beliefs in the Bulgarian lands from the early Neolithic till the second half of the 4th c. AD.

The conceptual framework of the exhibition “Forgotten deities” is grounded in the idea that understanding historical memory serves as a warrant for preserving human authenticity. An archaeological exhibition is not only a mechanical display of artifacts but also a means of bridging material remains and human consciousness. It is a prompt for reflection on the meaning of history, the ways in which people from different epochs constructed their views, beliefs, and values, and the constant dialogue between human beings and the world they inhabit. The proposed reading of the subject “The forgotten deities” reveals the cultural-historical layering through symbolic objects and draws the spectator’s attention to ideas beyond the images.

The edition is part of the series National Archaeological Museum Catalogs (volumes 46 - 47). It embraces a foreword and eleven richly illustrated articles, authored by the museum specialists of the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as follows:
