“Bulgarian Stone Book” was exhibited at the National Museum of Archaeology

On April 3, 2007 the National Museum of Archaeology hosted Bulgarian Stone Book exhibition of the famous Bulgarian painter Rumen Statkov. Fifteen oil paintings were shown in the Central Hall of the Museum. The exhibition was opened by the ombudsman Mr. Ginyo Ganev in the presence of the official guests Ms. Nadezhda Zaharieva, Vice-Minister of Culture, Mr. Minko Gerdzhikov, Deputy-Mayor of Sofia Municipality, other guests and visitors.

In his presentation Rumen Statkov said that these paintings were inspired by the incredible Bulgarian archaeological heritage. The paintings combine the warmth of the shades and the elegance of form with the presence of ancient symbols. The painter donated one of his works to Sofia Municipality on the occasion of the 128-th anniversary of the promulgation of Sofia for Bulgarian capital.

The painter expressed his genuine gratitude to Museum’s executives and especially to its Director Prof. Vassil Nikolov for their support and the opportunity provided. It is for the first time that the Museum hosts such exhibition. It was opened for visitors from the 3rd to 24th of April 2007.
