Competition for the Academic Position of Assistant in Professional Field 2.2. History and Archaeology, 13 August 2026

The National Archaeological Institute with Museum – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM–BAS) announces one competition for the academic position of Assistant Professor in Professional Field 2.2. History and Archaeology (specialty “Archaeology”):

– for the needs of the NAIM Branch in Veliko Tarnovo, with the profile “Archaeology of the

Bulgarian Middle Ages, 7th–15th Century”

Application period: Applications must be submitted within one month from the date on which the announcement is published on the NAIM website. The deadline for submitting applications is 14 September 2026 (Monday).

Applicants wishing to participate in the competition for the academic position of Assistant shall submit an application accompanied by a letter of motivation and the documents stipulated in Article 9(3) of the Regulations on the Terms and Procedure for Acquiring Academic Degrees and Holding Academic Positions at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as follows:

1. Curriculum vitae;

2. Master’s degree diploma in Archaeology;

3. Doctoral degree diploma, if the applicant holds such a degree;

4. Medical certificate;

5. Criminal record certificate;

6. Certificate of professional experience in the specialty, if applicable;

7. Other documents at the applicant’s discretion, e.g. a list of publications, inventions

and other applied research results, references, awards, certificates, etc.

Eligible applicants will be notified in writing of the date, time and venue of the interview. The notification will include the questionnaire on which the interview will be based.
